Smart Solution for Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic

Design system for existing services and needs to standardised UI library for growing and appending new features.
EOS is a tablet app that makes the rehabilitation process easier. EOS combines supervised exercise training, heart-healthy nutrition, and medical education in one product, designed for patients, caregivers, and clinicians, balancing medical accuracy with user-friendly design.
Today's healthcare managers are clustered, difficult to use, and filled with usability issues, making cardio rehab management complex and overwhelming. Cardio rehab specialists spend an inordinate amount of time attempting to complete simple tasks, such as scheduling appointments or checking on patients' records and progress. I aimed to understand the root cause of these UX issues and build a product that simplified the entire CR management process from communication to supervising.
The team came to me for help addressing multiple complaints they received about outdated product systems and poor experience. To solve the issues with an unintuitive user interface, I created a polished, scalable design system that includes reusable UI components, clear guidelines, and documentation that meets medical and accessibility standards. The old web system lacked key features like quick filters, custom calendars, and a 1-2-1 training supervising feature. Based on users' feedback, I added the capabilities to the new design, simplifying workflows and enabling CR specialists to manage online and in-site appointments more effectively.
"I had the pleasure of working with Ivan on a recent project, and I was blown away by their creativity and attention to detail. I highly recommend Daniel for anyone looking for a talented and professional designer."
EOS is a rhythm of life. The bright contrast between colours and shapes reflects the celebration of life, unity, and motivation, empowering patients to connect and inspire. I combined opposite colour pairings such as purple and orange to represent the EOS brand. I focused on conveying professionalism and minimalism with a hint of curiosity. When designing the EOS web app and landing page, I built a collection of shapes that symbolise deep meaning behind the company's mission and values.
I felt very validated about the core concept and also was able to highlight obvious problems. The biggest and hardest to crack was the digital model around grouping similar issues and how to display them.If a colour pairing persistently produces an error, we lump that together as a single issue across many instances. This allows you to fix it at a higher level rather than manually fixing each pairing. However, communicating this was a challenge. Doing these rounds of research allowed us to identify that issue and provide a solution, validating it as we wanted.
This project took nearly a year to ideate, design, test, and implement. Many features weren't displayed in this case study, including EOS Real-time exercise supervision and EOS nutrition Program features for improving eating habits and decreasing risk factors. There were hundreds and hundreds of screens and designs, innumerable iterations, hundreds of hours of user testing, and copious amounts of caffeine :)This project was a huge learning experience for me. The private beta of EOS's product is used by multiple top CR clinics and will be released commercially soon. Thanks for reading!
